Our raison d’être
The AFFQ was created to contribute to the professional advancement of its members and call attention to their strategic role in the economic development of Québec and of the world within which the Association operates. Hence, the AFFQ plans its actions in keeping with this mission.
A broad sphere of influence
In order to promote its members’ advancement, the AFFQ relies on strategies and actions aimed at creating awareness of member competencies and secure recognition for their contribution from the business community, governments, and the media.
The Association provides access to a large network of women and men working in finances and business in Québec, Canada, and abroad. It offers organizations within the business community who may be seeking experienced financial administrators a pool of focused, proven talent and expertise. It offers governments and the media a precious reference tool and promotes its members’ vision of the financial world.
The AFFQ: an international network
Created in 2002 as the first international chapter of the prestigious Financial Women's Association of New York (FWA), the AFFQ is an independent organization that maintains close links with the FWA, a women’s group founded on Wall Street in 1956.
Active AFFQ members have access to a network of more than 2,300 financial experts across the world, and maintain especially strong links with financial practitioners in Boston, Chicago, Washington, and San Francisco.
Major outreach partnerships
In 2004, the AFFQ entered into a partnership with Women in the Lead/Femmes de Tête , publisher of a biennial 930-page directory that profiles more than 800 women whose professional expertise makes them choice candidates to sit on company boards of directors. The names of more than 235 Québec women are listed in the directory that is consulted by headhunters, CEOs, and governments, both federal and provincial.
The AFFQ is actively involved in the selection of candidates for listing in the directory and in the launch and promotion of the directory in Québec.
Since 2007, the AFFQ has also partnered with Women at the top, an organization of women who hold senior, decision-making positions across Canada. Those women share their thoughts and contribute to the increasing presence and recognition of women in businesses that were once the exclusive domain of men.
